The Pier Play Festival expands to two days at the Santa Monica Pier on Saturday and Saturday, Oct. 3–4. The dance music event adds international headliners, yoga classes and DJ lessons across both days.

RASA World, the production company behind the festival, sold out all four previous editions since launching at the pier in October 2024. The expansion was first reported by the Argonaut.

Both days run 2 to 11 p.m. at 200 Santa Monica Pier. Tickets start at $65, and the event is 21 and older. Information and tickets are available at rasa.fyi.

Ahmad Muhaisen, co-founder and CEO of RASA World, said the festival works closely with the City of Santa Monica and the Santa Monica Pier Corporation.

"It's a monumental moment for people to be able to dance on the legendary Santa Monica Pier," Muhaisen told the Argonaut. "Sometimes, we take it for granted that it's in our backyard, but it's a fascinating thing for people."

Muhaisen is from Lebanon and founded the company with partners from Spain and France. He came to the events world after a career in software engineering and digital banking.

The lineup features Grammy-nominated Italian trio Meduza, jazz-trained pianist and DJ LP Giobbi, German vocalist-guitarist Monolink, Australian DJ Kaz James, masked Berlin performer Claptone, Italian brothers Mind Against and Spanish producer Arodes. Many of the artists are performing at the pier for the first time.

Beyond the music stages, organizers plan yoga on the festival grounds, buses converted into DJ-lesson booths and a pop-up barbershop. Giant sea-animal structures and colorful fabrics will decorate the space. Muhaisen said the fabrics catch the ocean wind, creating what he described as artistic moments as they move.

Pier restaurants and businesses will stay open during the festival. Attendees have traveled from San Diego, Santa Barbara, San Francisco, Orange County, Arizona, Florida, New York and Canada for past editions, according to the Argonaut.

RASA World's nonprofit partner WHEN Justice, which works with corporations on environmental protection, will have a presence at the festival. The organization also highlights causes tied to its artists, including reducing plastics and expanding opportunities for women in music-industry tech roles.

The festival started with indie house and techno and has since broadened into other electronic formats. RASA World also hosts Pier Play at Pier 70 in San Francisco.
