A large-scale fitness studio is moving into the first floor of the space Bloomingdale's left behind at Santa Monica Place.

Club Studio holds its grand opening party Saturday, Sept. 19, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 315 Colorado Ave., #301. The location sits at the corner of Fourth Street and Colorado Avenue.

The studio is operated by Fitness International, LLC, the company behind LA Fitness, Esporta Fitness and City Sports Club. Fitness International runs more than 700 locations across 27 states and Canada, according to a Macerich press release that announced the lease in July 2023. Macerich, which owns Santa Monica Place, described the Club Studio space as 48,000 square feet.

The Santa Monica location features five boutique studio rooms: CS4, Box, Ride, Hot Yoga and Reformer Pilates. A dedicated recovery area includes full-body cryotherapy, red light therapy, steam rooms, infrared saunas and compression therapy. The club also houses a juice bar, a retail store and personal training services.

Bill Horner, Club Studio's senior vice president and chief real estate officer, said in the July 2023 lease announcement that Santa Monica Place's access and parking aligned with the brand's goals. Doug Healey, Macerich's senior executive vice president of leasing, said at the time that high-end fitness tenants drive foot traffic at Macerich properties "from early mornings to late evenings."

Club Studio joins ARTE MUSEUM, planned for Level Three of the same former Bloomingdale's and ArcLight Cinemas building, as part of Macerich's broader effort to repurpose the vacant department store space.

The opening arrives as Santa Monica works to fill retail vacancies downtown. The Los Angeles Times reported the city faced some of the highest retail vacancy rates in Los Angeles County. In March 2026, the city council approved a package of economic development measures that included a $3 million Economic Development Fund and a parking validation pilot program for fitness and wellness businesses downtown.

Listed weekday hours run Monday through Thursday from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Friday from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m. Weekend hours were not posted on the Club Studio website. The phone number is (310) 928-8984.
