Santa Monica High's flag football team shut out Leuzinger 46-0 on Oct. 6, pushing its win streak to seven straight games.

Six of those seven wins have been shutouts.

The Vikings scored seven times and grabbed five interceptions in the home victory, which doubled as senior night, the Samohi student newspaper reported. The win lifted Samohi's league record to 4-0 and its overall mark to 12-4.

Three seniors were honored before the game: Chelsey Gonzalez, Rosita Garcia and Livia Neidermayer.

Brooklyn Belle stood out on defense. She recorded an interception return for a touchdown in the second quarter that put Samo up 20-0. The team's five picks on the night kept Leuzinger off the scoreboard entirely.

The defensive dominance has defined the Vikings' season. Samohi opened league play with a 56-0 win over Beverly Hills on Sept. 10, recording three interceptions in that game, two of which were returned for touchdowns. A 24-0 non-league shutout of Sunny Hills followed on Sept. 22, and a 21-0 win over Lawndale came in early October, according to Los Angeles Times score listings.

Head coach Ramsey Lambert has emphasized the defensive identity all season. After the Sunny Hills shutout on Sept. 22, he praised his team's consistency.

"I thought we played a really good game, especially defensively, not allowing them to score … I think we became really consistent and allowed some things to open up, get some yards and some points," Lambert said after that game.

The pattern held against Leuzinger. Samo's defense forced turnovers throughout the night while the offense converted those opportunities into points.

At 4-0 in league and 14-4 overall, the Vikings control their path through the remaining Bay League schedule.
